Project Report | Dec 17, 2025
Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children

By Mohammad Mosharof Hossain | Assistant Project Coordinator

Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children

Reporting Period: August 2025 – December 2025
Implementing Organization: Green Fund Initiative (GFI), New York, USA

1. Introduction

This report provides an update on the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project for the period August–December 2025. The project aims to support 27 children whose education has been disrupted by climate change–related impacts such as floods, droughts, and storms. During this period, the project continued to face significant funding limitations, though a small donation enabled limited direct assistance.

2. Project Goal and Objectives

The project’s goal remains to reduce educational disruption among climate-affected children and strengthen their resilience. Key objectives include:

  • Providing tuition fee support

  • Supplying essential school materials

  • Offering transportation assistance

  • Delivering tutoring and counseling services

3. Progress Overview (August – December 2025)3.1 Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project received a very small amount of donation, which was insufficient to resume full project implementation. However, the funds allowed limited educational support to be delivered in collaboration with the local partner organization in Bangladesh.

3.2 Activities Implemented

With the available resources, the following activity was completed:

  • Distribution of school supplies to 10 children, including basic learning materials such as notebooks, pens, and school accessories

  • Selection of beneficiaries was based on urgency and vulnerability, coordinated with local schools and the partner organization

While this support reached fewer children than originally planned, it helped reduce immediate educational stress for the most vulnerable students.

4. Impact

  • 10 climate-affected children received essential school supplies, supporting continued school attendance

  • Parents and teachers reported improved motivation and engagement among supported children

  • The intervention helped maintain project credibility and community trust despite limited resources

5. Challenges Faced

  • Insufficient funding prevented support for all 27 identified children

  • Tuition assistance, transportation support, and counseling services remain on hold

  • Rising needs within the community continue to outpace available resources

6. Stakeholder Engagement

Throughout the reporting period, the project team continued to:

  • Coordinate closely with the partner organization in Bangladesh

  • Engage school authorities to monitor students’ needs

  • Seek additional funding through donor outreach and proposal submissions

7. Next Steps

Subject to funding availability, the project plans to:

  • Extend educational support to all 27 identified children

  • Resume tuition fee assistance

  • Distribute full school kits and learning materials

  • Introduce tutoring and counseling services to address academic and emotional needs

8. Appeal for Support

The needs of climate-affected children remain urgent. While this period’s small donation made it possible to support 10 children, 17 children are still waiting for assistance. Continued donor support is critical to ensuring uninterrupted education and preventing long-term dropouts.

9. Conclusion

During August–December 2025, the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project made modest but meaningful progress despite severe funding constraints. The distribution of school supplies to 10 children demonstrates both the urgency of the need and the project’s readiness to scale up once adequate funding is secured. Green Fund Initiative and its partner remain committed to expanding support and safeguarding the educational future of climate-affected children in Bangladesh.
