Project Report | Aug 19, 2025
Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children

By Mohammad Mosharof Hossain | Assistant Project Coordinator

Project Title: Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children
Reporting Period: June 2025 – August 2025

1. Introduction

This report provides an update on the progress of the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project during the period of June–August 2025. The project seeks to support 27 children affected by climate change-induced challenges such as floods, droughts, and storms, with the aim of ensuring uninterrupted access to education despite environmental and socio-economic barriers.

2. Project Goal and Objectives

The project’s overarching goal remains to mitigate educational disruptions caused by climate-induced displacement and poverty. The core objectives include:

  • Providing tuition fee support.

  • Supplying essential school materials.

  • Offering transportation assistance.

  • Delivering tutoring and counseling services.

Through these interventions, the project aspires to build resilience, reduce dropouts, and create a pathway for a brighter future for climate-affected children.

3. Progress Overview (June – August 2025)

Due to a lack of funding, the project was unable to implement its planned core activities during this reporting period. As a result:

  • Tuition fee support could not be resumed.

  • School supplies were not distributed.

  • Transportation assistance and counseling services were not initiated.

Despite these constraints, the project team remained engaged with the school community to maintain visibility and to ensure readiness for implementation once resources become available.

4. Challenges Faced

  • Funding Shortfall: The absence of donor contributions remains the most significant barrier to resuming activities.

  • Rising Demand: More children in the project area have been identified as needing educational assistance, intensifying the urgency of mobilizing resources.

  • Operational Delays: Logistical planning for supplies, transportation, and tutoring sessions is currently on hold.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

While direct interventions were not possible, the project team continued advocacy and partnership development through:

  • Submission of funding proposals to donor agencies.

  • Outreach to NGOs and community-based organizations for collaboration.

  • Engagement with school staff and community leaders to sustain commitment to the initiative.

6. Next Steps

Once funding is secured, the project team intends to:

  1. Immediately cover outstanding tuition fees for the 27 identified children.

  2. Procure and distribute urgently needed school materials.

  3. Arrange transportation support to ensure regular school attendance.

  4. Launch tutoring and counseling sessions to support academic and emotional well-being.

7. Appeal for Support

The educational needs of climate-affected children are pressing and growing. We appeal to donors, philanthropic organizations, and community partners to contribute to this initiative. Your timely support can prevent educational disruption and safeguard the future of 27 children who remain vulnerable due to the impacts of climate change.

8. Conclusion

Although activities were halted from June–August 2025 due to a lack of funding, the project’s vision and commitment remain strong. The groundwork has been laid, partnerships are being pursued, and the urgency of this initiative is more evident than ever. With renewed support, we are confident that the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project can rapidly resume and make a transformative difference in the lives of these young learners.
