The Project Vision, an initiative of the Hope Society, has several programs to reach out to the visually challenged people – promotion of eye donation, treatment and various programs of rehabilitation to enable them to live a meaningful life.
Avoid Blindness- Eye Screening camp at Andarahalli and Tubagere villages
An eye screening camp was conducted during December 2016 for the Andarahalli village and in February 2017 at Tubagere village at government school. The elected representative of the area (MLA) and the chairperson along with Director of The Project Vision conducted an eye screening camp for the economically weaker sections. Nearly 600 people participated in the camp and 22 people were identified and underwent cataract operation at Dr. M.C. Modi Charitable Eye Hospital . We donated 120 spectacles to people who required lenses for vision correction.
Madhava Murthy represented The Project Vision on documenting the eye screening camp at Tubagere government primary school along with eye manufacturing unit. The purpose was to identify students who might have a visual defect and correct them at a very early age. 300 students were screened for any early eye correction and provided them with free spectacles and lenses.
Youth Fest- Blindness no more a challenge for celebration
On the 15th of January 2017, celebrating a church youth fest was one of a kind to include the blind students in the fun activities. An innovative cause of involving these special talents in a treasure hunt, in which they themselves were the treasure, teams from around the city took part in it and took good care of the blind. For the first time in the world may be, blinds took part in a " *DUMB CHARADES* " competition helping their respective teams win. Thanks to Suresh and his team from The Project Vision who made this youth fest "Les Fabuleux Asiaa" a success.
Saithil- A dream of SEEING the world again
Saithil is just 30 years old. He was sighted and managed his life. He was hit by someone and lost his eyesight. Now he is blind. He is staying in an institution without able to manage his life and work. He is totally dependent on others for his life.
Saithil has been sent to a medical camp that was conducted by Project Vision during December 2016. Out of the 300 people who came, Saithil was the only one who had lost his sight completely.
On examination, it was found out that his was a corneal blindness. This means it is reversible if anyone is ready to donate their eyes. This was a happy news. Saithil has been referred to Modi hospital in Bangalore. We are now campaigning to raise a cornea for him so that he could see the world. again.
