EduVision Program
The Project Vision, an initiative of the Hope Society, has several programs to reach out to the visually challenged people – promotion of eye donation, treatment and various programs of rehabilitation to enable them to live a meaningful life.
Our Vision is “Let Everyone See” and the Mission is “To provide opportunity for every visually challenged to gain sight and for the permanently visually challenged to live a full life”.
EduVision is our program of education for the visually challenged. With a focus on higher education, we support the college going students. To realize this mission Project Vision is focusing on the higher education of the visually challenged through the present initiative. We at The Project Vision further supported students in Bangalore and Chennai for paying their educational expenses. With your support the amount we raised we could provide college fees, educational aid(Braille equipment, Books, Pen drives) and accommodation to the students.
Recently, we provided educational aid and hostel accommodation for Lakshmi, who had lost her family and was isolated down to the streets. Our co-ordinator identified and brought her into rehabilitation. Later, we found she had a dream to continue her studies. We gave her hostel facility and admitted her into a college; and provided her the necessary basic needs, so she could fulfill her dream.
Computer Training Centre
We had a vision to run a computer centre for visually challenged. In today's world, computer education has become a basic criteria in our social and work environments. We are providing a course on ' "Basics of Computer Application" for students who have completed their 10th standard. This will enable them to be in par with technology and serve as a tool to excel in their higher education.
We inaugurated the centre on the 1st of July in our office at Malleswaram. The facility has four computers and two teachers with two batches of students everyday as a three month program. Each batch has 4 students getting trained in "Basics of Computer Application". The course also provides keyboard typing as part of the curriculum. Additionally, to broaden their horizon in communication skills, we conduct 'Spoken English ' classes.
Some of the students in this course were also provided with stipend for their hostel accommodation.
Visually challenged Suresh and Kaveri get married
Suresh and Kaveri were two visually challenged students, who were provided educational aids and assistance. Later we recruited them to part of our 'The project Vision' family. This couple decided to get married, we stood by them to assist in conducting their wedding and set up their first home together.
The wedding of Suresh and Kaveri was the first marriage organised by The Project Vision organisation to rehabilitate the visually challenged persons in the society. The marriage was conducted at Sumanahalli Society on Magadi road at 11 30 am, 29th May 2016; in the presence of both their families as well as friends and well wishers from Project Vision.
Suresh who was born completely blind 28 year ago for Timmanaika and Nigamma hailing from H D Kohte from the background of Agriculture. Out of the six Childrens only four survived. His elder Sister Rajamma and his younger sister Mahadevi are also blind. Only his 23 year old Sister Manjula has sight. All of them are now settled and have normal children.
He completed his PU studies and also diploma in computers. Suresh is also a singer and musician. Project Vision provided him first stage of rehabilitation by employing him to coordinate its activities among the visually challenged persons.
Kaveri, who is also born blind. She is now 25 years and has completed PUC this year. Her Sister Rukmani aged 36 years is partially blind. Her mother Jayamma is 80 yrs old and her Father passed away 15yrs back. Two of her brothers Shivarama Gowda and Vasu Gowda are also Blind. Kaveri is also a singer.
It was music that brought Suresh and Kaveri together. They shared stages at the common programs for the visually challenged and got to know each other. Now they have decided to share their life too.
Project Vision, started in 2013 to promote eye donations and to help the permanently visually challenged persons to have a better life, has taken the responsibility to organize the wedding. About 400 persons have been, mostly friends and relatives of Suresh and Kaveri have been invited to the wedding. From invitations, to food and things needed to settle down as family in a house are being provided to them.
