Educating 100 rural orphan children

Her eldest brother, who is not HIV-positive, quietly stepped in with compassion. To encourage her to take her medicines, he placed vitamin tablets in an old pill box similar to hers and pretended to take tablets with her every day. This simple gesture helped her feel less alone and ensured she continued her treatment. He did this consistently for nearly three years.

When she turned 13, she understood that her medicines were different and that she had a health condition her brother did not. She also realized that his actions were never just about medicine, but about love, support, and standing with her. This understanding strengthened their bond deeply. The whole family was under the care of Buds of Christ Charitable Trust especially in area of giving educational support. Her brother completed under-graduation, her elder sister completed 12th but the younger brother dropped out inspite of suppport and opted to go for menial jobs in the neighbourhood. 

Today, she is in her first year of college and has made her health her top priority through regular treatment adherence. This story came back to me during a recent support group meeting when she confidently shared her personal goal. That small, empathetic act from her brother years ago has shaped her sense of responsibility and now enables her to support and encourage younger children facing similar struggles. Sometimes, it is these quiet acts of understanding within a family that guide children toward strength, responsibility, and hope.
