STRENGTHENING THE ABILITY OF THE FEMALE CHILD, INCREASE AWARENESS ABOUT SRH, HIV AND OTHER STIs
We would like to share with you about the progress of our project for the last 3 months. The project has been able to reach 50 girls aged between 14-17 years to provide them with Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and HIV education that will increase their awareness and attention to their health.
Lack of parental support, information and sexual health education contributes to the high rate of HIV transmission and teenage pregnancies in rural Tanzania. Children especially girls are not given the correct information to make safe sexual decisions. Girls don't have the correct information regarding sexual reproductive health, disease prevention, even puberty. Girls at school lack resources and information to be able to manage their menstrual cycle; As a result, girls miss school for 5-7 days.
This project aims to eliminate stumbling blocks and provides essential resources for rural girls, helping them advance their education, Life Skills, Access to safe and friendly health services, understanding and awareness on SRH, Menstruation, reduce STIs, HIV, FGM, Unintended pregnancy and school dropout.
If we get more funding, this project will reach more rural girls: It is our expectation that the project will be able to reach 5000 rural girls who are in school and those who are not in school.
