Empower Develop Dignify (EDD) Program Update
July 2026
Empower Develop Dignify (EDD) is delighted to share this update with our valued partners at GlobalGiving and all of you who have generously devoted your time, resources, and support to our mission. Your partnership continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children and their families. We are deeply grateful to have you walking this journey with us.
Education Program
Our education program continues to grow and transform lives. We currently serve 144 students across six classes, providing quality education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We are proud to report that we have successfully completed the 2025–2026 academic year. Every one of our students passed their examinations with good results and has been promoted to the next grade. We are especially excited that no student repeated a class, reflecting the commitment of our students, teachers, parents, and supporters.
It has also been an inspiring year of learning and collaboration. Through our partnership with Teach Rwanda, we had the opportunity to welcome two organizations that visited EDD to learn from our educational approach and community-based model.
Looking ahead, we are excited to launch a new Primary four class at the beginning of the 2026–2027 academic year in early September 2026. Working closely with local leaders from five villages, we have already identified and recruited 25 new students who will join our Pre-primary class.
Alumni Support Program
Our second major program continues through our partnership with ROP. We currently support 77 alumni (legacy students) who previously experienced life on the streets and are now continuing their education in primary schools, secondary schools, and Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) institutions.
We are encouraged by the students' strong academic performance, positive discipline, and personal growth. Their progress demonstrates the lasting impact of continued support and mentorship.
Thank You to Our Partners
We are sincerely thankful to every partner who believes in our mission and invests in the future of vulnerable children. Your generosity enables us to continue providing opportunities for children who would otherwise have little or no access to quality education.
EDD remains committed to serving children from poor and vulnerable backgrounds. This mission is at the heart of our organization and inspires us every day to continue this important work.
End-of-Term Graduation Celebration
On 2 July 2026, EDD celebrated the end of the school term with a joyful graduation event attended by approximately 350 people, including students, parents, staff,, and others.
The celebration highlighted the achievements of our students and the strength of our community working together to give every child the opportunity to succeed.
Parent Testimony
Ishimwe, a single mother whose children attend EDD, shared her experience:
"I am deeply impressed by the progress my children have made at EDD. They are performing well academically and have developed strong discipline. Before joining EDD, I never imagined I could afford this quality of education for my children.
From the very beginning, I was touched by the compassion of the EDD staff and their commitment to serving families who cannot afford school fees. As a single mother, I have been given the opportunity to be part of this wonderful program, and I am truly grateful for the progress my children have made.
Sometimes I am unable to contribute the small parent contribution, which is only 1% of the total school fees. During those times, I join other parents in providing volunteer work as an equivalent contribution. I sincerely thank EDD and all the sponsors who work tirelessly to make this program possible. May God bless you all."
Once again, thank you to GlobalGiving and every supporter who continues to stand with Empower Develop Dignify. Together, we are creating opportunities, restoring hope, and building brighter futures for children and families in our community.
