Mid - Year Impact

By Victoria Wanjohi | Director and Impact Communication Lead

TonyWild Foundation's work in conservation photography, film, and science goes beyond enhancing environmental conservation education among the youth. We aim to have an impact on what it means to conserve and protect our natural resources, our wildlife, and their habitat. Every element of nature, from the bird that flies overhead to the ant that builds its home in the soil, from the elephant that moves gracefully through our savannahs to the trees that host biodiversity and provide us with oxygen, is crucial to our well-being.

During the first half of the year, we traveled across the country, the African continent, and the world, showcasing the impact of our work through our education and production teams. As we look forward to the second half of the year, the TonyWild team is eager to continue making a difference. We hope our stories inspire and encourage ongoing support for our work.

A highlight for us was in June when the TonyWild Foundation organized a photography session at the Sea Turtle Festival, an annual event at Safari Beach Hotel Diani. This event aimed to raise awareness about turtles, the threats they face, and how we can better protect them. We trained students to document biodiversity through photography, illustrating the effects of beach pollution and highlighting the relationship between humans and marine life, specifically turtles.

Three students won prizes, acknowledging the wonderful impact they can make in conservation through photography. We are grateful to the Conservation Education Society for their ongoing partnership in nurturing conservation photographers.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
