In addition to the leadership training being provided for community leaders, the Social Artistry/ICA trainers are continuing to support the earthquake recovery with training for teachers and other professionals who are dealing with the trauma experienced by community members, especially children.
Following are some of the communities, organizations and schools/colleges that were provided the psycho-emotional trauma relief training where the tools of Social Artistry were used.
Social Artistry Training to School Teachers, Students and School Management Committee
Psycho-emotional trauma relief training was provided using Social Artistry tools at South Point boarding high school. The teachers and stakeholders of school were the participants in the training. Considering the fact that students would require extra care and proper handling during tremors, Social Artistry trainers realized teachers should be trained first and their trauma should be healed before children. Therefore, training was provided in the school premises. There were 30 participants, and trainers Amba Datta Bhatta and Atma Ram Timsina provided the training. Training was helpful in preparing teachers to help the children.
Institute of Banking and Management Studies
With the similar purpose of trauma relief and psycho-emotional support, Social Artistry leadership training was provided to members and stakeholders of the Institute of Banking and Management Studies (IBMS). The training was conducted at its premises at Chakupat, Lalitpur among 25 participants. The training was helpful to provide counseling and trauma handling ideas to the participants. Mr Amba Datta Bhatta and Mr Atma Ram Upadhyaya were the trainers.
Tri-Ratna School, Bungamati
Psycho-social trauma relief training from Social Artistry perspective was provided to teachers of Tri- Ratna School, Bungamati.
Olympia School
Similarly, the training for teachers and staffs of Olympia school was also provided with psycho-social trauma relief training with the use of Social Artistry tools. There were around 30 participants.
Association of Wives of Civil Service Employees
Similarly, Social Artistry training for psycho-social recovery was provided to wives of service employees. Amba Datta Bhatta, Atma Ram Upadhyaya and Pramila KC were the trainers.
Support from the Jean Houston Foundation
Tatwa Timsina (spokesperson for ICA Nepal), reported “ICA Nepal received great support from the Jean Houston Foundation during the time of the earthquakes where many of the places in Nepal had been devastated. Jean Houston Foundation played a great role by helping us out with donations of significant amount and constant update about Nepal on their sites. The amount was used for relief support as well as being used for the rehabilitation process. Part of the support from the Jean Houston Foundation is also providing support to the disabled at Gol Dhunga area. ICA Nepal acknowledges Jean Houston, Peggy Dean and all of the social artists for their support to launch earthquake relief and recovery activities.”
