The magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10 destroyed homes and left hundreds of families without food or basic supplies in Cali, Buenaventura, and Choco. Ser para Ser Foundation, working in Cali since 2011, is delivering emergency food, hygiene kits, and shelter supplies, and funding home rebuilding bonds so families can recover their homes, reaching communities that other aid organizations often cannot access.
On August 10, 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, damaging homes across eastern Cali, Buenaventura, and Choco. Hundreds of families lost their houses, food stores, and access to clean water and hygiene supplies. Many live in hard-to-reach areas with damaged roads, delaying aid delivery. Families are sleeping outdoors or in damaged structures, with limited access to medical care, meals, or resources to begin rebuilding.
Ser para Ser Foundation delivers emergency food, hygiene kits, and medical supplies directly to displaced families in eastern Cali, Buenaventura, and ChocoOur teams, already embedded in Cali and with alliances in the country since 2011, identify the most affected households and prioritize deliveries to hard-to-reach areas. Donations also fund rebuilding bonds, giving families the resources to begin repairing or rebuilding their homes.
This project will help hundreds of families in eastern Cali, Buenaventura, and Choco recover from the earthquake, rebuilding stable homes and restoring access to food and basic services. By strengthening our existing community network, we also build long-term resilience, ensuring these families are better prepared and connected to support in future emergencies.
