The Hilda Rothschild Foundation (HRF) is bringing the EDUCAMBIO/Montessori program to more than 250 girls and boys from poor families. The first beneficiaries of the program are the Centers for Initial Education at the Sagrado Corazon market and the Mercado Central. HRF works closely with the Municipality of San Salvador, and has also attracted attention from the national Ministry of Education; an Early Start for a Better Life is more and more acknowledged.
The teachers are Montessori guides-women with relatively low levels of education, who have grown through years of training provided by HRF. We are proud of their work and the recognition they receive as professionals: a contribution to the advancement of Women and Girls.
EDUCAMBIO is also bringing about change within the family, where children are often verbally and otherwise abused. As one of the mothers recently reported, her child had said "please stop screaming and calling me names; no one treats me like that at school".
