By James Harrison | Fundraiser for Africa A+ Schools
1) This project had two contact sessions in February and March 2025. The Facilitators were Carole Scott and Yolande Delport. The sessions were approximately one week each, and went very well.
2) Africa A+ Schools (A+) secured funding from Arm in Arm in Africa, a charitable organization in the USA, to carry out the two contact sessions.
3) The focus of the contact sessions was on understanding planning using the curriculum (NCF); working with an ELDA (Early Learning Development Area), and working with parents.
4) The parent workshop was well received with many parents beginning to understand what their role is in their child's development.
5) All activities were arts based. One of the highlights was the creation of 'Mother and Child' clay models by workshop participants.
6) The money raised for the Malungeni project on GlobalGiving will be used towards funding a third contact session in the second quarter of 2025.
7) The project received a site visit from a another potential funder, the D.G. Murray Trust, in February 2025. A decision on future funding from this source is still pending, but the representative was impressed with the work being done by A+ in Malungeni.
