To date, our generous donors have contributed $1,475.00 to our early intervention program. This allows us to continue serving children with disabilities in our program.
Thanks to your valuable support, we are serving a total of 57 children – 24 with Cerebral Palsy, 9 with Down Syndrome, and 24 additional children with various disabilities.
Also we work in groups, once a month, with all of these children. There is a group for those with Cerebral Palsy, a group for those with Down Syndrome, and a group for those with other disabilities. These groups allow all of the participants to get to know and support each other.
Each child has a personalized program put together by our team.
We want to share the story of Ruth with you. She is a wonderful two-year-old who likes to play and is always smiling.
She is the first child of her family and she was born with hipermyelomeningocele. Ruth’s parents did not know what to do with her, they only saw that she had a swollen ball on her back and this ball was gradually growing. The family visited ADISA where they were instructed that Ruth needed immediate surgery, because the ball would continue to grow if they waited. The family was frightened because they had no money to pay for the surgery of their daughter. ADISA conducted a home visit and saw that the family did not have the resources to support their daughter. Ruth became a child supported by ADISA, and we created an intervention plan for her and her family.
She was initially evaluated by a specialist in March 2015 and subsequently she received a life-saving operation. Ever since, her parents have been so happy and grateful. Ruth receives physical therapy twice a week and her physical development is progressing well. Everyone has been overjoyed to see that Ruth can now walk.
