On Sunday, June 7, 2026, young adults gathered at the training center in Diquini, Haiti, for a hands-on manual arts session focused on creating handmade crafts. The workshop gave participants the opportunity to learn practical skills using materials such as fabric, beads, pins, canvas, thread, and other craft supplies.
During the session, students learned how handmade products are designed and created, including decorative items, bags, canvas products, and other useful handmade pieces. These lessons are important because they help young adults build skills they can use not only for personal growth, but also for future income-generating opportunities.
One of the instructors shared that learning this craft takes patience, practice, and commitment. While a professional may complete a small item in just a few minutes, beginners need time to practice and improve. The message was clear: with willingness and determination, every young person can learn and grow.
The workshop was filled with energy, focus, and teamwork. Participants worked together, asked questions, practiced their craft, and proudly displayed the beautiful items they created. For many of them, this was not just an activity — it was a chance to discover their creativity and see new possibilities for their future.
These young adults are learning that their hands can create something valuable. With the right guidance and support, simple materials can become beautiful products, and new skills can become stepping stones toward entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
