Dear Friends:
We are pleased to inform you that the crops are doing well, and progress is being made as previously anticipated.
The 15-hectare (37 acres) plot has been in full production since March 2024. The seven hectares of corn yielded 3,000 lbs of corn kernels. This provided 60 bags for the treatment center in Dassa. Local women participated in the harvest and kept 1/9th of the produce. Also planted are 6,000 banana trees and fifty papaya plants.
The 50-hectare (124 acres) section is progressing well. Over 33,000 teak seedlings were planted in July 2025 on 20 hectares. Cut down to the ground in four years, the trees will generate approximately $100,000 for Association Saint Camille. New saplings will sprout from the ground and be sold every four years, providing a significant source of income for years to come.
Mango trees, corn, cashew trees, and other crops will be grown in the remainder of 2026.
We will update you with a crop report and the budget after the annual meeting of Les Amis de la Saint- Camille in September 2026.
