The conflict-induced food crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is worsening as violence escalates, forcing families to flee again. The conflict has displaced nearly a million people in the DRC since the beginning of the year, most of whom are arriving in Goma and Bukavu, leading to food shortages and making food prices in Goma and Bukavu markets out of reach for many. However, the humanitarian situation is critical. The displaced are short of food and other necessities.
This displaced population left everything behind during their flight to save their lives. As an emergency, they first need food assistance and cooking kits in particular (beans, rice, corn flour, sugar, cooking salt, pots, plates and cups). Food aid and cooking kits are important to enable these abandoned and currently unassisted people to find relief.
This project will provide the distribution of food and cooking kits (beans, rice, corn flour, sugar, cooking salt, pots, plates and cups) for these vulnerable people displaced by the wars in the East of the DR Congo which will bring them joy and comfort.
