In eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, disasters can turn a child’s life upside down in a matter of hours. Floods, earthquakes, disease outbreaks, conflict and other emergencies can force families from their homes, interrupt children’s education and leave them without adequate food, clothing, healthcare or emotional support. For children already living in poverty, these hardships can be especially severe. Girls and children with disabilities often face additional barriers to accessing the protection and services they need.
Through the Rapid Response Project for Children in Disasters, OGDH-RDC aims to provide emergency assistance to 40 vulnerable children in South Kivu. The planned support includes nutritious food, clothing, shoes, blankets, essential medicines, healthcare and psychosocial assistance. The project is currently in its preparation and resource mobilization phase. Our team is identifying trainers and learners and preparing the next steps for implementation. With a total fundraising target of $10,000, we have raised $26 so far. Although this is only the beginning, every contribution represents an opportunity to move closer to reaching children in urgent need. We are committed to using the funds raised responsibly and sharing honest updates with our supporters as the project progresses.
Behind every number is a child who deserves to feel safe, cared for and hopeful about the future. With the support of GlobalGiving and the generosity of donors around the world, we believe we can build the momentum needed to reach our goal and deliver meaningful assistance to these children. We warmly invite individuals, organizations and compassionate supporters to contribute to this initiative. No donation is too small when it helps bring essential support within reach of a child affected by disaster. To everyone who has already contributed, thank you for believing in this mission. We extend our sincere appreciation to GlobalGiving for its partnership and for helping connect our work with a wider community of caring donors. Together, we can help children in South Kivu face difficult circumstances with greater dignity, protection and hope.
