Wispy was the last of the 3 cows that were donated to the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru. And Wispy and her 2 cow friends have a calf to look after now after she was sold to the Center for very little money. We were able to use the Global Giving funding for her - Her name will of course be GG.
The cows are already making a difference at the Center. Although the 3 grown cows are all pregnant and not yeat able to give milk until December - January, the have another job to do at the Center. We have installed a home gas installation which produces cooking gas with... cow dung! The warmth coming from the installation makes it the perfect place to plant strawberries on top and green vegetables around it. So the children are learning to use what the cows have to offer - besides milk!
Now that the cowshed has been built and is housing 4 cows, one of the next steps will be the chicken coop and chickens - but it will be necessary to buy farm land first.
We can really use your kind support to make this happen and keep those smiles on the chilren's faces.
Asante sana - thank you so much!
