I am Neha of age 21 years, married and having 2 kids living in a joint family with in laws father and mother as well as one sister-in-law. My both in laws are of age 59 and 60 as well as sister-in-law of age 13 years. The income of my family is too much low because just my husband is the only earning person and he is a daily wage laborer at a vegetable stall. This is very much difficult for a person to feed 7 members family in which 2 kids and 2 old age persons are there. Because, the kids and old age persons needs more care and expenses in particular the expenses of medicines for both ages. Being a woman and daughter in law, it’s my sole responsibility to look after chores of the home like bring wood for fire, fetch water, cook food and serve to family. Because, my husband uses to go to stall early morning and he returns late, as a daily wage laborer, its hard to avail off because in case off there is no wage that day. I wanted to contribute to increase income of our family as I am a tailor but due to distance of drinking water which normally takes 30 minutes for one side and I have to bring drinking water two times in a day i.e. morning and evening. So, this task only needs at least 2 hours in a day and brings much tired ness too. Therefore, I remained unable to spare time, stich clothes and earn for my family. But thanks to Philanthropists, GlobalGiving and ARTS Foundation as they installed a handpump in our village village Juma Khan located in Taluka Kot Ghulam Muhammad district Mirpurkhas in Sindh province of Pakistan. Basically, this hand pump is installed with extension by bringing drinkable water from one and half kilometer, the primary source of water is canal and the bore been made there. This hand pump has saved my 2 hours per day and energy. So, I am able to stitch at least 2 dresses and earning at least Rs.400/day. Therefore, this earning has made a lot of things easy for us.
In total more than 13 households and 100 humans are getting benefit by saving their time and energy.
We are thankful to the Philanthropist’s for their generous support through donating their money and ARTS Foundation for choosing our village and installing here a hand pump.
