Three schools Appareddy palya (kannada), Jogipalya (Tamil and Urdu medium) schools are covered by the project with a total number of 188 children being impacted.
Sikshana program has started in these schools which mean a baseline report on the learning levels has been created. The assessment methods used are APF (Azim Premzi Foundation) methodology for class 5 children and the ASER based testing for 4th and 7th class children.
Dell volunteers are visiting the schools 2 times a week for 2-3 hrs per day and are involved in teaching English, Hindi, Tamil and new ways of solving arithmetic problems. They are focused on addressing the shortfalls in the children which was found during the baseline testing.
It is not all academic and the volunteers had a fun day on a Saturday with painting competition in schools. A couple of pictures from the event is attached to this report. The enthusiasm of the volunteers is very impressive and it is rubbing on the teachers who are now taking more interest in the day to day school affairs.
There is also a small youtube video created by the volunteers on their experience for the last 6mo with these children and can be seen at http://youtu.be/sqIb5Jn9_0o
