Animals come into spcaLA’s care for a whole host of reasons.
Sometimes, they are survivors of unimaginable abuse and neglect, like Dusty the Pitbull I wrote to you about back in April.
Sometimes, people lose their jobs and can’t afford to care for their animals anymore. Sometimes a new baby has a bad allergy to the family pet.
And sometimes, a lost dog just isn’t found.
That’s the story of Jamie.
She’s been in our care since August of 2020. Back then, Jamie was fearful and shy. She needed patience, time, and cheese. So much cheese.
With positive reinforcement and enrichment, she learned to trust people again.
Today, it still takes her a little while to warm up to new people, but when she does, she loves being petted – especially scratches on the back.
Jamie is an 8-year-old, 78-pound Akita mix, who’d prefer to be your only pet.
She is also an avid fan of plush toys, squeaky balls, and puzzles. Jamie loves walks and exploring, and is a volunteer and staff favorite.
We were able to discover all of the wonderfulness that is Jamie because of your support.
On behalf of Jamie, and thousands of pets like her, thank you!
