Three and a half years ago, spcaLA Animal Cruelty Investigators rescued Dusty.
He and three other dogs lived in filth at a local mechanic shop. With debris and feces at every turn, Dusty had limited access to clean water, nourishing food, or veterinary care.
With painfully slow progress at first, we got Dusty feeling better. Daily enrichment and training sessions channeled his energy. Veterinary treatments soothed his ailments. Magical treats coming from the hands of spcaLA volunteers and staff helped Dusty see people as a source of joy.
Dusty even spent an extended stay in foster care - learning how to live in a home and just be a beloved pet. But still, weeks stretched to months, and eventually years.
Dusty surprised us all when he, at the age of 11, started inspiring kids. First spending a summer in spcaLA’s Friends for Life Camp, Dusty moved on to helping youth in our Teaching Love & Compassion (TLC)™ and Youth Diversion programs.
Dusty became an ambassador for spcaLA, his breed, and shelter pets everywhere.
Your support is the reason we can give animals like Dusty - and thousands more every year - the time and care they so urgently need.
I am happy to report Dusty was adopted just in time to ring in the New Year with his new family.
