spcaLA is in the business of preventing cruelty to animals. Over the years, we’ve handled more abuse cases than I care to remember. But there’s one dog’s story I can’t get out of my head.
When spcaLA Humane Officers responded to an animal cruelty complaint last winter, they met Fred. He was a living skeleton, covered in fleas and ticks. Neglected and forgotten.
For months, spcaLA staff and volunteers have cared for Fred. We've given him plenty of nourishing food, safe shelter, and TLC. We've treated him medically and taught him some basic obedience.
And, from unimaginable beginnings, we’ve found a sweet, friendly dog who loves to learn, play, go for hikes, and take the occasional nap.
With your support, we can continue helping Fred and thousands more animals like him every year.
