The “Do Good” Foundation successfully implemented the project “Do Good – Recycle 2!” in the Secondary Mixed School “Danilo Kiš” in Budva, Primary School “Kekec” in Sutomore, Preschool Institution “Eko Bajka” in Pljevlja, Primary School “Radomir Mitrovic” in Berane, and Primary School “Aleksa ilas Beco” in Mojkovac.
Children and young people who grow up with an awareness of the importance of environmental protection become responsible citizens who contribute to preserving the planet for future generations. That is why we have dedicated part of our activities to education and raising awareness about the importance of caring for the environment we all share.
Through 20 workshops involving around 770 children, young people, and educational staff, we discussed the proper disposal of plastic waste, the harmful effects of improperly discarded plastic on the environment and human health, the opportunities that plastic offers as a recyclable raw material, the principles of the circular economy, sustainable development, and related topics. During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to learn about positive examples from local communities, demonstrating how addressing the problem of plastic waste can be transformed into creative and useful products for society as a whole, such as eco-boards and various items made from them.
As part of the project, the Foundation donated four eco-benches and four eco-bins to each of the five educational institutions, amounting to a total of 20 eco-benches and 20 eco-bins. In this way, the project contributed to protecting nature by preventing approximately 1.2 tonnes of plastic waste, specifically plastics marked with recycling codes 2 and 5, from ending up in the environment.
During the implementation of the project, plastic collection campaigns were organized in the participating educational institutions, resulting in the collection of approximately one tonne of plastic waste.
