"Do good Recycle 2"

By Marija Manja Jovovic | CEO Fondation

The "Do Good, Recycle 2" project was implemented in 2023/24 in five educational institutions at all three levels, namely: "Danilo Kiš" Secondary School in Budva, "Kekec" Primary Schools in Sutomore, Bar, "Radomir Mitrovic" in Berane and "Alexa ilas Beco" in Mojkovac, as well as the "Eko Bajka" Kindergarten in Pljevlja.

During the duration of the project, 20 workshops were organized in these educational institutions, where 764 children, students and teaching staff learned about environmental protection, proper disposal of plastic, the harmful effects of improperly disposed plastic on the environment and health, the possibilities it provides plastic as a raw material in the recycling process, circular economy, sustainable development, etc. Children and young people had the opportunity to learn about positive examples from the community of how solving the problem of waste can be turned into creative and useful objects for the entire society, such as the production of eco-boards and objects made from them.
During the workshops, children in kindergarte had the opportunity to learn about the topic, which is very important for Montenegro, in an interesting and attractive way, and through educational animation, which was made according to their age.

In addition, 100 coloring books were distributed to children, while 200 brochures were distributed to primary and secondary school students, which could also be downloaded online via QR code at the presentations. Also, an animation was created for children of preschool age and the first cycle of elementary school. The animation is available on the Foundation's YouTube channel

During the implementation of the project, plastic was collected in schools, and what makes us especially happy is that about 1 ton of plastic waste was collected. This confirms that our activities had an effect on the awareness of the participants.

Also, each educational institution received four eco-bins and eco-benches, which is a total of 20 eco-bins and 20 eco-benches, for the production of which about 1.2 tons of recycled plastic was used, which was removed from nature and which polluted the natural beauty of Montenegro, such as forests, national parks, beaches, etc. in Montenegro.
