With only hours to go, and with significant support from an amazing networker in Canada (Steve Ellefson of the World Wheelchair Express Foundation), we have managed to meet our $5,000 fundraising challenge!
This is a very exciting moment. There are only 3 other organisations in Laos P.D.R. that are connected to GlobalGiving - so we have joined something of an exclusive club!
We still have a long way to go to meet the full fundraising goals of our project, but now that we are partners of GlobalGiving, we have the time... We can extend our connections around the world, and find more innovative ways to ignite people's passion to help us achieve our goals.
We can start the process of planning when to begin wheelchair basketball practice sessions.
None of this could have happened without you - so once again - thank you!
P.S. I thought you'd enjoy this photo of a women's team of players, taken almost exactly a year ago. They will now be able to access support to attend practice sessions. There has never been a regular practice programme in Laos. And the man in the centre of the photo is Touffic Allouche - he's the coach we want to send back to Laos, as part of the complete project...
