When you first look at the amount we've raised so far for this project, you may think it is not going to get funded. Yet, if you look a bit closer and realize how many recurring donations we have received, it becomes clear that we are well on our way to success.
Prior to this past Friday, we had raised enough funds to provide 55 dignity packs to three of our partner schools so far this year. On Friday, we received funding for an additional 108 packs to be purchased and distributed to our five remaining partner schools. And so we are off to a great start. The recurring donations we are receiving guarantee at least 12 students (or one partner school) will receive dignity packs each month.
What makes this project so wonderful is that it can continue on for an entire year, or even longer. The children and youth who benefit from these items are not always the same, and as a family moves into more fortunate circumstances and can afford the items, a new child will be identified as in need. The project will always work to identify and benefit the students who have the highest need for hygiene items.
The main impact of the Dignity Packs project is to decrease truancy rates, especially with pubescent girls, as well as increase self-confidence of both males and females who receive the packs. You are doing this for the neediest students in our community by contributing to this project. We ask that you visit our page from March 23rd-27th to take part in the Little by Little Matching campaign where your donation can be matched by GlobalGiving. This project, and all of you, are a perfect example of how moving little by little in a right direction, as long as we move together, can lead us to not only achieving, but exceeding the goals we set for Moya Centre.
As always, thank you so very much for supporting Moya Centre and the Dignity Pack Project.
