The Dignity & Safety Initiative by EDEN-EDUCARE is a targeted intervention designed to support adolescent girls who are already receiving tuition assistance. While their school fees (16,500 Naira) are covered, this project provides the "survival essentials"-sanitary towels, undergarments, food, and clothing-to ensure no girl is forced to hawk goods on the streets to meet her basic needs.
Supporting Vulnerable Girls' Basic Needs Conversation with Gemini I have a few adolescents girls in my care, lacking basic needs like underwears, food, sanitary towels and clothes. EDEN-EDUCARE pays their fees of 16500 naira in the local community secondary school because we do not run a secondary school yet ,but we can't afford to meet all of these other basic needs . Some of them have been hawking farm produce, groundnut etc to support themselves and have been abused in the streets,
It shifts her from a "survival mindset" to a student mindset A significant decrease in exposure to predators and physical abuse. This builds a psychological "shield. When a girl feels respected and cared for, she is more likely to value herself and resist exploitation. She begins to see herself as a student with a future, rather than a commodity on the street This builds a psychological "shield." When a girl feels respected and cared for, she is more likely to value herself and resist exploitation
Safety & Protection: Drastically reduces the risk of gender-based violence and street harassment by keeping girls in safe, supervised environments. Academic Consistency: Eliminates "Period Poverty" as a reason for school dropout, ensuring girls complete their secondary education. Breaking the Poverty Cycle: By securing their dignity today, we allow them to focus on the vocational and academic skills that will empower them to provide for themselves safely in the future.
