Thank You Very Much
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all that has supported the Digital Literacy Project. The project has started off with an aim to bridge the digital divide and increase access to technology for primary & middle school children from socially and economically backward migrant families from slums in Malviya Nagar & Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
In our previous post, it was reported that 12 computers were supported to two centres (6 computers in each centre- Malvia Nagar and Jagatpura). We are glad to share that apart from donations through Global Giving we have recieved money for 10 additional computers from SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India), Jaipur Branch, so now 22 new computers has been installed in the two Academies for Working Children.
Digital literacy classes has been conducting in these centres regularly and classes have been organized in such a way that children at the centres are taking computer classes in the morning and youths are getting computer skills training in the afternoon.
The project has made efforts towards economically empowering the youths in the community with vocational skills and trainings so that they are capable of contributing towards the upkeep of their family. Currently, 14 (girls & women) from Jagatpura and 20 (girls & boys) from Malvia Nagar are taking three-months training in Basic Computer Course. After successful completion of the course, these trainees will receive certificate from Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, Rajasthan. Through these computer skills & recognition from the renowned institute, the youth will increase their employability. In 2016 till now, 41 youths from Jagatpura and 60 youths from Malvia Nagar have already received Basic Computer Training Certificate.
We want to say thank you once again for making this project successful through your generous support with which we could help many under-served children and youths in making their digital dream come true.
