HPPI’s Academies for working children (AWC) remain focussed on providing basic education, support and training to out of school children for developing their personal and social skills needed to overcome daily challenges.
We are delighted to share the story of Bhomika in her own voice
My name is Bhomika, I live with my parents and one brother in Malviya Nagar in Jaipur. I had previously never attended school. One day, a teacher from HPPI was conducting a survey in the area and informed my parents about the AWC program run by HPPI in the area. They were told that along with regular studies, the program would also teach life skills like computer training, sewing, and mehendi. My mother got me and my brother enrolled at the Academy. I am currently studying at the Lower Kindergarten level. We love studying here as we learn new things everyday. The program focuses on practical knowledge over theoretical classroom studying so we learn new concepts, which help us better understand the world around us. I and my brother wish to continue studying here at the center until Grade 8.
Every Saturday, Theme Weeks are organized where we get to learn new things through activities, quizzes and games, which make learning fun and interesting. In the summer vacations, we participate in different activities like sports, dance, art and craft activities. We learn many new things on computer. The teachers are very friendly and create an interactive environment to grow and learn. They teach us different topics with much patience and help out if any of us have difficulties in understanding.
I wish to thank all my teachers for providing me with a good base to learn and understand new concepts and further pursue my education with ease.
