Dear ARCHE-Friends,

thank you so much for your support. We would like to give insight in what our kids can expect during the vivid Advent season when they visit us – you are also a reason why we are able to set up a great Christmas program.

First, our houses certainly must make a festive impression: It is always a great pleasure to take pens, brushes and scissors in hand and make awesome decorations together with our kids. With great justice, we all are very proud of the results who dip our houses in a real Christmas wonderland. Of course, we also sweeten this time with baking delicious and colourful cookies and gingerbreads together with our kids. They simply love to consider funny new shapes and ways to paint them with food colouring!

But our Advent season’s highlight is definitively the Christmas party where we celebrate together and have a great time with a stage program and a festive meal. Every child receives a personal gift. This may sound ordinary, but given that for way too many children in our houses this is the only real Christmas gift, it is a moment our kids have been looking forward to for a long time. They recognize that someone is giving thought to them. That they are important.

We are really touched by lots of our children’s commentaries: 11-year-old Mohamed said “Here is everything my heart wishes for. I think, I’m in paradise!” Given every child’s personal background, it is such a new and relevant version of the Christmas message.

After all, we also do not forget our program’s cornerstones during that time: Of course, daily free meals, school support and all efforts we give to strengthen our kids’ personality continue.
