Beginning of the year in Bratislava was quite critical. Temperatures were very low, freezing nights complicated the situation of the people at the street. The emergency team within the organization was created. Social workers visited homeless people every day in case they need any help.
Tereza, 60 years old lady, who lived more that 30 years in the shaft, with the help of emergency unit was transffered to the hospital, where she found out she has a cancer. Image, many years living outside, at the street, and the doctor is sending you after short time home. Thanks toeffort of collegaues from the Shelter of St. Lousie, she was moved there. After few weeks she died there. This story just illustrate the importance of the services Depaul Slovensko is running. The health of many homeless people is very poor. They do not have nobody to care of them, nor the proper medical treatment. What would happen, if our social workers do not find Tereza?
