I am Sonia, I live in Cité Soleil. I am 16. I took the albendazole deworming treatment, and it helped me. I could not eat a lot before but now I eat well; I am starting to gain weight too. Thank you so much International Action!
So many children like Sonia have benefitted from International Action's de-worming program. However, there are still hundreds of thousands of children that do not have access to alabendazole. This is unacceptable. Each albenazole pill rids a child of intestinal worms for six months. The pills only cost one cent. To rid the country of instestinal worms for a year it would only cost $200,000. That is such a small amount of money to eradicate an infection from a country.
Over the next year, we will be working with eight different clinics in Cite Soleil, Petit Goave, and Leogane to rid 150,000 Haitian children of albendazole. That is 150,000 kids that will no longer refuse to eat because of stomach pains.150,000 kids that will not have to stay home from school because of diarrhea caused by the infection. 150,00 children that will finally be able to utilize all of the nutrients they consume.
This is an amazing project because it costs so little and does so much good. Please, continue to support our effort to rid Haiti of intestinal worms.
All the best,
The International Action Team
