Work is continuing but on a different model

By Ruby Nakka | Director

Dear Supporter,

Greetings to you from the Hope House.  As you may know that we have been extending COVID relief to more than 150 children since April of 2020 was continued till October 31st of 2021.  On November 1st, 2021, schools reopened and all the children started attending schools.

We felt tha there is a great need for these children to receive our support because they not needed nutritional support but also acadamic support as their academic foundation was quite shallow and they might be subjected to bullying and eventually might drop out of school.

So we changed our model to run evening tuituion centers for the same four locations for the same group of children but instead of giving breakfast and lunch, we began extending evening snacks.  Since they were attending school, they were able to get school lunch at school and breakfast was arranged by their own families.

This brought a deeper appreciation for us to know about their challenges at school and being able to address and support them apart from supporting the entire family nutritional and social support.

Many of these families are illiterates and depend on daily contract labour work.  We begain counselling the families  about various vocational empoloyment opportunities to start their own small businesses and to be able to avail every government support that is available for the marginalized communities out there.  We enabled everyone of these children to get Aadhar cards (similar to Social Security Number in the US), COVID vaccination, institutional delivery of children, hospital visits for minor medical needs.

This has given the community a great deal of confidence in our organization as we have been working with them for the past 18 months and our unwavering support to their children and families.  We intend to continue evening tuition centers not only to understand the challenges of children but also of families so that we could support them comprehensively.

We want to say a big thank you for your faiful support for this cause and every beneficiary extends their heartfelt grattitude for all that you had extended to support them.  We hope that you'll continue to support them in the future.  God bless.

With kind regards

Ruby Nakka (Director)
