Overcoming Summer Heat and Launching the New Academic Year: A Call for Timely Education Support

By Joseph Anthony A Chukka | Project Leader

Dear Donors, Supporters, and Friends,

We are happy to share our latest project update for March 1st to June 30th, 2026. This past quarter, our work at BASS shifted from winter cyclone relief to managing the intense summer heat and reopening our school project for the new academic year.

Fortunately, we had no new cyclones or floods during these past four months. However, the weather was very hot. To protect our community from the extreme summer heat, our team distributed clean drinking water and fresh buttermilk daily. This kept the elderly people at our meal centers and the children at our Mirchi Yard Day Care and evening after-school centers safe, cool, and healthy.

The most exciting news is that schools has officially reopened after the summer vacation! The children have returned to their classrooms with big smiles, ready to learn. However, we are facing a major shortage of school supplies. To help these bright children study properly and feel confident, we urgently need funds to buy textbooks, notebooks, writing materials, and stitched school uniforms.

Please support and donate to our school project on GlobalGiving this quarter:

Right now, our finances are under a lot of pressure. During this entire four-month quarter, we received a total of only $10 through this project. To keep our programs running, we had to use up our internal savings. This leaves us with very little support as we face the upcoming monsoon season.

We kindly ask for your help this quarter. Your timely donations will help us build a reserve fund for future emergencies and, most importantly, provide books and uniforms for our school children right now. Thank you for your kindness and for helping these children build a better future.

With deep gratitude and respect,

Joseph Anthony A. Chukka
