Update from SicKids

By Professor Andrew Rowland | Chair of the Board of Trustees of SicKids

Hello friends of SicKids,

Since we last wrote to you the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has taken hold on countries around the world. Our hearts go out to all of the families who have been affected by this terrible virus.

SicKids has, unfortunately, also suffered as a result of COVID-19. Just before the virus appeared we had agreed a fabulous project to supply sensory equipment to a fantastic organisation working in a new area of Cambodia. We'd done all of the necessary background checks and had spoken to in-country experts who recommended the organisation to us.

We were in the process of arranging delivery of the sensory equipment when COVID-19 appeared. This virus has, sadly, meant that we currently don't have a reliable and safe supply-chain into Cambodia so our equipment can't yet be delivered. However, all is not lost - the funding is ring fenced and as soon as travel to Cambodia becomes possible again we'll be ensuring the sensory equipment we have agreed to supply gets to the children and young people who need it as quickly as we can.

Until then we just have to wait but we can assure you that SicKids is stable; we have four dedicated Trustees; our funds are all protected and as soon as we are able to start spending them again we will do; and we know that the enthusiasm of our supports remains as high as it always has been!

We'll update you again when we can and I'm hoping when we send you our next update in three months time, we'll be well on our way to supplying sensory equipment into Cambodia.

Until then, please do stay safe and we are sending you all our very best wishes.

Kind regards,

Andrew
