Gorilla gorilla diehli has a of 4 to 5 when standing on two feet. The gorilla weight up to 440 pounds. This species of Western gorillas is very similar in appearance to the more numerous western lowlands gorilla but subtle differences can be found in the skull and tooth dimensions.
The Kurop Reserve forest Gorilla lives in a region populated by humans who have encroached upon the gorilla's territory_clearing forest for timber and create fields for agriculture and livestock. Poaching occurs in the forest as well,and the loss of even a few of these gorillas has a detrimental effects on such a population.
Efforts to protect these animals are focused on securing the forest that houses them. Community Echoe Responder (COMERES) and partners together with the Cameroon and Nigeria government have a joint task to create a protected arrea for the Korup Reserve gorilla that spans the borders of these two nations.
The project with be carried out by Community Echoe Responder COMERES,the government councils and the ministry of wildlife of Cameroon and Nigeria. This has a long time impact.
