Gorillas found in ndian division Cameroon have experience significant decline in population as a result of poaching, habitat loss and civil unrest leading to their status being downgraded from critically endangered species to endangered.
Our NGO community Echoe Responder has led conservation initiatives which have been instrumental in gorilla conservation. Our strategies include;
Community engagement, working with local communities to promote sustainable livelihood and reduce human wildlife conflicts.
Ecotourism : Develop responsible tourism that benefits both conservation efforts and local communities inhabitants.
Further more, community inhabitants are educated on the various methods of farming, encouraging afforestation and biodiversity.
All in all, In the Indian Division of Cameroon, villagers are educated to protect gorillas, forests, and their benefits through sensitization campaigns by NGOs example our NGO and government agencies. They learn the importance of gorillas to biodiversity and how forests provide clean air, water, food, and income through eco-tourism. Training sessions teach sustainable farming, tree planting, and the dangers of bush burning and poaching. Local schools include environmental topics, while community forest committees help monitor and report illegal activities. By involving locals in conservation efforts, both the wildlife and community livelihoods are protected, ensuring a balance between development and environmental sustainability.
