Mathare Foundation Updates

By Eric Omwanda Nehemiah | Servant/Director

Dear Esteemed Mathare Foundation Supporter,

We want to first and foremost thank GlobalGiving for supporting us with $ 227,35 late last year. The funds that we received was used purposely for supporting us in our fundraising efforts. Basically, it supported the Director of the organization cover air-ticket cost to the United Kingdom. The funds also assisted him with living costs while in London.

I would also like to inform you about the progress that Mathare Foundation is making. Last year in July, I made a virtual presentation about our work during the 4th Commonwealth Youth Workers Conference (that took place virtually and in person in London, UK). Please see the link below.

https://power-of-youth-work.vfairs.com/en/#speakers.

Furthermore, on the 19th of November I made another presentation at the London Stadium during my visit to the United Kingdom. I made our presentation in an event dubbed Football For Good that was organized by Commonwealth Secretariat, Street Soccer Foundation and Catalyst in Communities. Please see the link below for more information.

(Minutes 24:39-29:32, 42:55-45:49).

Essentially, I went to London to fundraise for Mathare Foundation. I would like to share with you some updates in relation to resource mobilization.

Commwealth Secretariate have in principle endorsed our project dubbed Kicking It For Her. This project mainly focuses on promoting Menstrual Health Management and education through sports among 600 young people (females and males) in Mathare slums  with the intention of realizing SDGs.
We also have other partners such as West Ham United Foundation and Sol Foundation that we are in talks with regarding the same project. I will you posted once I have clear communication from them in regards to supporting this project.
Afrinspire an organization that I met in the UK donated 20 laptops to the Mathare Foundation. I came with one the rest are in the process of being shipped into the country.
At the time of this writing, we are implementing Kicking It For Her project. The launch of this project is on the 27th of April 2024.Please have a look at the attached pilot report of the Kicking It For Her project.  We also have pending organizational debts that we need to clear. Please note we have yet to receive any funding from the Commonwealth Secretariat who had pledged £1500 upon them successfully completing their due dilligence process.
Honestly, we are working round the clock to make sure that we are able to attract funding. At the time of this writing we have been able to write proposals to Polish Aid in Nairobi, African Population Health and Research Center, Resolution Project, West Ham United Foundation and Irise International. We are also going to submit proopsals to Africa Culture Fund (https://www.africanculturefund.net/en/call-for-projects-pages-acf/), New Africa Fund (https://www.newafricafund.org/apply) and Incident emergency fund (https://www.digitaldefenders.org/incident-emergency-fund/)
We are kindly requesting for support of $ 3136.23. This will be enough for us to be able to implement the launch of the Kicking It For Her project, cover office rent debts and support other organization activities such as photography and dance.
Thank you so much and hope to hear from you.
Best Regards,

Eric Omwanda Nehemiah,

Servant/Director at Mathare Foundation.
