Open Dialogue

By Eric Omwanda Nehemiah | Program Manager at Mathare Foundation

The Open Dialogue Football Tournament had a work plan which guided us in before, during and after the implementation of the football tournament. The football tournament  took place on the 18th of August at Eastleigh grounds. The football tournament whose theme was to  cultivate the culture of tolerance among the refugees and the nationals in Mathare and Eastleigh areas (Nairobi-Kenya)

The two communities can now collaboratively do joint activities and projecs t. This has been made possible by through the football tournament. They came together for a common good course through  football. This has built confidence of the 2 communities to work together and this will have a positive impact in the upcoming community forums.

The activity attracted 18 out of the 20 invited teams. This means that there was 90% tourn out as indicated in our logical framework. This has been made possible for good organization that was depicted during the football tournament. The boys and girls  teams aged 14 years and below came from Eastleigh and Mathare slums.

The following are the outcomes of the projects so far:

(i) Improve relationship between national and refugees in Mathare and Eastleigh
