As the year begins, Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT) continues to make steady progress toward our mission of providing safe, supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness. Since January, we have welcomed thirteen new households, offering affordable rentals without credit checks, rental history, or income limits, along with supportive services to help residents maintain stable housing. In total, we have helped over 850 people find and maintain safe, supportive housing. This broader impact is only possible because of dedicated donors like you.

A key highlight this period was the second anniversary of Everhart Village. What began as an innovative pilot is now a stable, trusted part of our housing ecosystem, offering essential shelter and support to individuals facing homelessness and mental health challenges. Over two years, Everhart Village has shown the impact of integrating housing with care, creating a space where residents can stabilize, heal, and move forward. One resident, Brian, shared, "Thanks to Everhart Village, my mind is free again.  I have the space I need to [make decisions]." Stories like Brian’s remind us why this work matters and how your support is making a real difference in people’s lives.

We reached an important milestone in accessibility with the arrival of our wheelchair-accessible van. Thanks to the generosity of GlobalGiving donors, we were able to purchase this van and make it available to our residents. This addition is already improving support for residents with mobility challenges, enabling them to attend medical appointments, access essential services, and stay connected to the community. For many, this is more than transportation; it is a vital step toward independence and dignity.

This quarter, we advanced work on Builder's Village, a 61-unit affordable housing development for seniors and individuals with disabilities. This project marks the next phase of our commitment to lasting, accessible housing solutions. We anticipate completing construction by year-end and welcoming our first resident soon after. As we approach the opening of Builder's Village, we are focused on furnishing the new units, stocking household essentials, and ensuring wraparound support is in place for incoming residents. Donors can help by contributing funds toward move-in kits, sponsoring community spaces, or supporting on-site programs that will help our residents transition successfully into their new homes.

At the core of our work is a simple truth: housing alone is not enough. Relationships, case management, and consistent support are what truly change lives. Every day, we see residents move from crisis to stability and from isolation to connection.

We are deeply grateful for the support of our GlobalGiving community. As GlobalGiving donors, you play a unique and vital role in helping us respond quickly to urgent needs, launch innovative programs, and offer flexible support where it’s needed most. Thank you for believing in our mission and making a real difference in the lives of our residents. Your partnership enables us to build not only housing, but also hope, dignity, and long-term pathways out of homelessness.
