We are pleased to report on our ongoing campaign to create a movie theater in Vavylove village, Shevchenkove Community, Mykolaiv Oblast, where we have currently raised $34 of our $5,000 target and remain committed to continuing fundraising until we reach our full goal. The village of 420 residents, including 100 young people, has shown remarkable resilience after enduring nine months of Russian occupation in 2022, with the community already making infrastructure improvements to their village club using previous GlobalGiving support.
The project has generated tremendous enthusiasm among 15 local teenagers aged 12-17, led by youth representatives Oleksandra, Viktoriia, and Ruslan, who have volunteered to organize and manage the future movie theater operations, planning film screenings followed by discussions and board games to provide non-formal education and community bonding for approximately 100 children and young adults.
We continue our fundraising efforts to purchase essential equipment including a projector, screen, seating, and board games to transform their vision of inaugurating the space with a modern Ukrainian film into reality, creating a lasting symbol of community renewal and cultural pride.
