WEGF ENROLS 1500 WOMEN IN 2017 FOR ADULT LITERACY TRAINING!
“Being Illiterate disempowered me for long time, and has been blocking me to achieve my personal goals as it does for many women in our community, for long I could not tell my views always feared, and isolated my self but this is no more. I feel I’m important, happier and empowered woman in onlythe few classes I have attended." - Mary - WGEF Literacy Participant
WGEF enrolled 1500 adult literacy leaners in 2017. Our goal is to continue to grow and expanded this opportunity for adult literacy leaning to more women in Uganda. Women are participating at 5 learning centers throughout the region where they attend classes twice a week and this will take them 8 month to complete course. Our program is reflective to the needs of women in the community and offers them the opportunity to learn numeracy, reading and writing in their native languag and English.
Our goal is to continue this important program, reaching deeper into rural communities where resources a few and offer women all thru the region the vital and life changing opportunity. Access to basic education is a human right, and it this belief that drives us to continue our commitment.
Peace,
Karen and Bukenya
