WGEF Wins International WorkLife Balance Award!
The award ceremony for this special event took place on Wednesday May 30th at the Auditorium Piazza
Lombardia in Milan in conjunction with the VII World Family Meeting held there between May 29th and June 3rd at the presence of Pope Benedict XVI.
The prestigious International WorkLife Award was created to mark the VII Global Family Meeting in 2012 to reward efforts all over the world that exemplify the best work-family conciliations adopted by companies, non-profit organizations and public administrations. These practices that conciliate work and family include all policies and initiatives regarding connections with local welfare and social policies for an overall aim to improve the business and social climate in their given communities to help create a balance between personal commitments, family life, and business associates/colleagues.
"There is no balance in life for families that don't have access to basic human services, food, clean water, health care, education and human security. Women's Global Empowerment Fund works with women in northern Uganda, a post conflict region. We help them recover and rebuild their lives after many years of unimaginable violence and poverty." Karen Sugar, WGEF Founder/Director
Literacy 2012:
In April of 2012 our 5th year of literacy trainings began, serving 115 women. This year we are offering two levels, beginner and continuing students. This is an exciting accomplishment for WGEF and our clients! This critical program is possible in part because of the generosity of Global Giving donors!
We hope you are proud and inspired to be a part of Women's Global Empowerment Fund! Please continue to support critical, lifesaving programs for women and families in post conflict northern Uganda!
