Two months ago, Mnglarlato Giving received a phone call from the local hospital that we will never forget.
The nurses told us they had just delivered a tiny baby boy under very concerning circumstances. He was dangerously underweight, fragile, and in immediate need of support. They asked if we could come.
When we arrived at the hospital, we met baby Noah.
His family was overwhelmed and struggling to meet even the most basic needs. Noah’s father works part-time construction and labor jobs when work is available, earning only about $20–$25 a day. If he is fortunate, he may find work two or three days a week. Supporting a newborn under those circumstances felt almost impossible for the family.
But because of our recurring donors, we were able to respond immediately.
Within hours, we were able to provide food, infant formula, diapers, and emergency support for the family. We helped them apply for government assistance and alerted the Ministry of Health and Human Services in Ecuador so additional resources could be made available. We also found a compassionate donor willing to sponsor Noah’s family so they could join our permanent food bank program during these critical first years of his life.
And then something beautiful happened.
The photos say more than words ever could.
In Noah’s first photo, you see a tiny newborn fighting for survival. In the second photo, taken just two months later, you see bright eyes, chubby cheeks, and a baby finally beginning to thrive. Noah is not at an acceptable birth weight yet, but we are monitoring him closely and helping the family maintain their visits to the pediatrician at the local hospital.
That transformation happened because people choose to give faithfully, month after month.
Recurring donations may feel small at times, but they allow us to act immediately when emergencies happen. They allow us to say “yes” when a hospital calls. They allow us to support vulnerable families before situations become tragedies.
Most importantly, they remind families here that they are not alone.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to out recurring donors for standing with us and for standing with Noah.
Your kindness can change lives every single day.
