Next Trip - Sand Filters

By Kevin Friedman | Project Technical Lead

Project team continues to secure funding for purchasing and installing sand filters at the point of use (within households) in the community. Funding will be used to purchase slow sand filters and send team members to Corail Lamothe to install the filters and provide training.

We have been contacting sand filter suppliers in country to determine costs and logistics for purchasing and delivering 60 filters to the community. We were not able to travel this month as we'd hoped, but we are working to be prepared to travel in May or June of this year.

We have also teamed up with a class at a local college to provide a solar suitcase built by students as part of the classwork. The solar suitcase will provide limited solar power for the local school. One of the engineering and technology students will likely travel abroad to help and install and actually see their solar suitcases in action in the field. What a powerful way for our future engineers to see how technology truly can better the world!

We look forward to sending team members in May/June of 2103 to install filters and the solar suitcase.

Thank you all for following our progress and your continued support!
