In the Caraballeda Community in the state of La Guaira, returning to school means recovering routine, safety and hope after earthquakes. RET will help 600 children and adolescents return to safe educational spaces, receive materials, recover learning and access psychosocial support. We will also support teachers and facilitators so that each student can feel protected, express what they live and continue building their future.
The June 24 earthquakes affected the educational continuity of nearly 600,000 children and adolescents in Venezuela. The damage to schools and the disruption of their routines has led to fear, stress, anxiety, and difficulties concentrating and learning. In Caraballeda and other affected communities, it is urgent to reestablish safe educational spaces, provide socio-emotional support, and prevent further learning losses and school dropouts.
RET will provide Temporary Learning Spaces for 600 children and adolescents to resume their education in safe conditions. It will deliver educational and hygiene materials, develop learning recovery activities and provide psychosocial support to strengthen their emotional well-being. In addition, we will train and accompany teachers and community facilitators to promote protective, inclusive environments prepared for future emergencies.
Over 12 months, this project will help 600 children and adolescents regain access to education, as well as improve emotional well-being and confidence to continue studying. The training of teachers and facilitators and the strengthening of communities will leave capacities in place to protect educational trajectories and respond to future emergencies. This will contribute to reducing school dropout and building safer, more inclusive and resilient educational environments.
