Protection form abuse, trafficking and exploitatio

By Madan Pyakurel | Manager

Sita (name changed) felt safe with her grandmother. After her death, Sita was left with her alcoholic father. She was beaten and tied on ropes for hours, and her feet were hammered to bleeding. She was attempted rape when she was alone at home. She abandoned herself in her village mountain twice to find safety. The school denied her continuation. She was later sent to a children's home, but no one liked her. She was shifted to another one and eventually sent back home. No hope! One day, she fled to Kathmandu without knowing anything. It was a nightmare for her when she ended up in the street with no hope.

Eventually, she was rescued by the police and sent to Bethany Home in Kathmandu.

'She broke up in tears. She carries so much trauma," said the counselor.

“I feel much safer in Bethany Home. I will help girls like me who are unloved and abandoned by their parents”, says Sita. She is getting stable and studying in grade 5.

Sita represents the story of 18 girls living in Bethany Home. Bethany Home provides shelter, education, trauma counselling, legal support and family reunification.

The rented home has incurred significant amount of money annually. Construction of our own home (even in rented land) can save significant amount of money and invest in the lives of more children. The home will provide child-trauma-friendly services and adequate and safer spaces for the cognitive, psychosocial and physical developemt of children.
