ProjectEDUCATE’s ConservationNATION works with school going children to help raise awareness about the importance of the environment and the role individuals and communities have to play in protecting it. To date the initiative has planted trees and picked litter in the Mongu community. Beyond tree planting and litter picking, ConservationNation has embarked on the establishment of tree nurseries at school which include indigenous tree nurseries.
Imwiko basic school in currently raising 1000 Poinciana seedlings and 5000 rosewood seedlings. The Poinciana seedlings will be planted around the school perimeter. The Rosewood seedling will be planted in the community and neighboring villages to help reduce the rapid loss of the species
It is envisioned that more schools in the school district will come on board that each school is going to adopt a specific tree species to help curb the loss of indigenous tree species. Through these efforts we hope to educate students at our partnering schools the role trees have to play in protecting our environment and encourage them to take care of it.
While the project continues to achieve many of its goals, challenges remain in terms of raising the funds needed for effective project implementation.
To this effect we encourage our previous donors to consider supporting the project with a monthly donation regardless of size. We also encourage past donors to reach into their networks and share the project and encourage them to donate as well.
We believe together, we can make the changes that are needed to protect some of the world’s resources.
We thank our past donors for their generous support.
