We are proud to continue our efforts to protect the rich wildlife of the Magdalena Medio region in Colombia. Through our work, we have documented the presence of iconic species such as jaguars, tapirs, and giant anteaters in the remaining forest patches of our study area in the municipality of Yondó. Our mission extends beyond documentation and research; we are dedicated to promoting coexistence between wildlife and local communities. A key focus of our work is mitigating conflicts between large carnivores and cattle ranchers, particularly those arising from livestock predation. Notably, the jaguar captured in the attached image is moving near a cattle pasture on a ranch that has not experienced livestock losses to large carnivores in the past year. This is a clear testament to the fact that coexistence between these species and human activities is possible. We will continue our commitment to finding ways to promote this coexistence.
